Casciana Terme Lari To create lasting connections between international youth and increase their ability to express themselves and describe the context around them, their roots, and their territory, while participating in the social and political life of their community. With this goal in mind, the project "Theatre For European Identity" was born—a youth exchange co-funded by the European Commission's Erasmus+ program, written and directed by artist Elia Orso Frongia and promoted by Nui Aps, a social promotion association operating in the province of Pisa. "The project was carried out in collaboration with the Sartoria Caronte theatre company, as part of the 'Collinarea – Festival del suono' theatre festival held in Lari and Pontedera," explains artist Elia Orso Frongia. "On this occasion, 21 young people aged 18 to 30 from Spain, Portugal, and Iran participated and interacted together with local youth from Pisa and its province in the Festival's activities, focusing particularly on theatre and videomaking." "Developing skills and promoting the potential of our territory represent two key pillars for our association; through the activities of Confcommercio per il Sociale, we want to commit ourselves further in this direction," states the general manager of Confcommercio Pisa, Federico Pieragnoli, who extended his compliments to Elia Orso Frongia "for his work which resulted in an important, inclusive project that is attentive to the beauty of Pisa and its province." "The participants come from different social backgrounds," Frongia continues, "such as the Spanish group from rural areas of Galicia and the Portuguese from Madeira Island. Thanks to this innovative project, they had the opportunity to delve into cultural topics, youth policies, and social issues that are important both for the youth of Pisa and, similarly, for the international guests, who discovered the beauty of the region by visiting Pisa, the San Rossore Park, and Marina di Pisa." After many experiences across Europe, particularly in Turkey, the Baltic countries, and the Balkans, Frongia set up the headquarters of Nui Aps in Calambrone, bringing to life an intensive seminar with 54 participants from 9 nations, packed with contributions from various experts and professionals.
