Storytime: Myths and Legends Across Europe
Pisa, Italy, 1-6 Ottobre 2024
We often think prejudice and intolerance are things of the past, but during this project, it became clear that we still have a long way to go. Even though diversity is one of Europe’s core values, there’s still a lack of understanding and openness towards different cultures in many communities.
We also realized that words like diversity, multiculturalism, and tolerance are used a lot—but not always fully understood.
That’s exactly why we chose theatre.
Theatre is one of the most inclusive and powerful ways to explore these topics. It exists in every culture in some form, through stories, myths, legends, and shared traditions. It’s a way for people to express ideas, tell stories, and connect with others.
During the week, participants explored different theatre methods, techniques, and creative processes. Step by step, they worked together to create a final performance designed to have a real impact, not just on the audience, but also on everyone involved and the wider community.
By the end of the project, participants didn’t just create a show—they left with new skills, tools, and confidence to use theatre as a way to speak up, share ideas, and tell the stories that matter to them.
